History

Today, Abertis is a world leader in motorway management. For more than 60 years, Abertis has been working to become a key partner in the financing and sustainable management of infrastructure. The company's track record confirms that it is a key ally of the public authorities in this field. Since its creation in 2003, Abertis has pursued a strategy aimed at growing, internationalising and achieving responsible profitability.

2000

  • Abertis incorporates the Western Concessionaire Group SA (GCO) of Argentina.

2003

  • Autopista del Sol SA (Ausol) joined Abertis

2006

  • Incorporation of the Sanef Group, France.

2009

  • Control of the Avasa concessionaire in Spain
  • Control of the Elqui and Rutas del Pacífico concessionaires (Chile).

2011

  • Concession of the PR-22 and PR-5 highways in Puerto Rico to Metropistas

2012

  • Integration of Arteris in Brazil.

2015

  • Control of the Sol and Los Libertadores Highways in Chile

2016

  • Entry into Italy with A4 Holding
  • 100% control of the Central Highway in Chile
  • Creation of Emovis.

2017

  • Gateway to Asia with two highways in India. (Isadak)
  • Abertis reaches 100% stake in France, Sanef.
  • Awarding of the Via Paulista concession to Arteris in Brazil.

2018

  • Abertis acquired 100% of JEPL in India.
  • Expansion of the Chilean Sun Highway (Route 78).
  • Extension of the concession contracts in Argentina of the Autopista del Sol (Ausol) and Grupo Concesionario del Oeste (GCO).

2020

  • Acquisition of the Western Highway Network (RCO) in Mexico.
  • Acquisition of Elizabeth River Crossings in the USA.

2023

  • Acquisition of four new highways in Puerto Rico (PR-52, PR-66, PR-20, and PR-53).
  • Acquisition of 100% of Autovía del Camino (Navarra)

2024

  • Awarding of the Route 5 Los Vilos concession in Chile.

2025

  • Abertis reaches an agreement for a majority stake of 51.2% in the French A-63 Landes motorway.
