History

Today, Abertis is a world leader in motorway management. For more than 60 years, Abertis has been working to become a key partner in the financing and sustainable management of infrastructure. The company's track record confirms that it is a key ally of the public authorities in this field. Since its creation in 2003, Abertis has pursued a strategy aimed at growing, internationalising and achieving responsible profitability.

  • 2009Control of AP-68 concessionaire Avasa (Spain), and of Elqui and Rutas del Pacífico (Chile)
  • 2011Metropistas wins concession of PR-22 and PR-5 in Puerto Rico
  • 2012Integration of Arteris Group (Brazil) and additional three new toll roads in Chile
  • 2015Takeover of Autopista del Sol and Los Libertadores (Chile)
  • 2016
    • Entry into Italy through the concessionaire A4 Holding
    • 100% takeover of Autopista Central (Santiago, Chile)
    • Creation of Emovis, a subsidiary dedicated to the development and management of technology and information services to offer electronic toll solutions and intelligent mobility
  • 2017Entry into Asia through the acquisition of two toll roads in India
  • 2020Acquisition of Red de Carreteras de Occidente (RCO) in Mexico and of Elizabeth River Crossings in the USA
  • 2023Acquisition of four new toll highways in Puerto Rico for the rehabilitation, operation and maintenance and acquisition of 100% of the Camino Highway (Navarra)
