The international Network of Abertis Chairs today presented its9th and 10th International Awards for Transport Infrastructure Management and Road Safety, which recognise the best university projects from among the winners of the seven national editions of this award (Spain, France, Italy, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Chile and Brazil). This award has two categories

It involves the construction of two one-way tunnels of 1.5 kilometers each to decongest the Metropolitan Area of Santiago de Chile and which will save fuel and travel time for users by improving circulation flow. In addition, the project will reduce pollution associated with high traffic volumes.

The Cultural Center of Spain in Mexico presents, between October 8 and December 12, four paintings and a sculpture by Joan Miró and five photographs taken by Joaquim Gomis, friend of the artist and the first president of the Fundació Miró. 

The ceremony was attended by Isabel Pardo de Vera, Secretary of State for Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Guillermo Cisneros, rector of the UPM and Elena Salgado, president of the Abertis Foundation. 

It is an initiative of the International Network of Abertis Chairs, present in five countries: Spain, France, Puerto Rico, Chile and Brazil, conceived as a tool for innovation and collaboration between the university and the company

H.M. the Queen visited the exhibition on Tuesday. Previously, he has led a working meeting with members of the management team of Abertis and its Foundation, as well as UNICEF Spain. 

 Abertis’ subsidiary Holding d'Infrastructures de Transport (HIT) successfully issued €600Mn 7.4-year bond with a 5.7x oversubscription and a coupon set at 0.625%, the lowest in the Abertis Group’s history.  

The company has allocated $400,000 from its alliance with UNICEF to support COVAX, the global mechanism for equitable distribution of vaccines against COVID-19
