• According to the Spanish Directorate-General for Traffic's National Registry of Traffic Accident Victims, 154 accidents related to road maintenance and conservation work were recorded on Spanish roads in 2025, with speed being the main risk factor.

•This initiative aims to strengthen awareness of driver drowsiness, one of the most invisible yet dangerous risk factors on the road, and a leading cause of accidents among both private and professional drivers.

•Scientific studies show that driving after fewer than five hours of sleep significantly impairs reaction time, attention, and decision-making, with effects comparable to driving above the legal alcohol limit.

•The campaign was unveiled at an event that brought together institutional representatives and sector experts in a forum for dialogue that discussed measures to prevent driver drowsiness and improve road safety education.

•The congress, held in Hangzhou (China) from 22 to 26 September, brought together the World Network of Biosphere Reserves - including MedMAB, supported by the Abertis Foundation - to consolidate priorities, strengthen collaboration and define the Global Action Plan for the future.

•The Abertis Foundation delegation at this international event was led by its president, Elena Salgado, who spoke to explain the public-private partnership model implemented through the International Centre for Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves, a UNESCO category 2 centre.

The Abertis Chair, in conjunction with the Technical University of Madrid, today presented its 19th edition of the Spanish Research Awards in its two categories: Transport Infrastructure Management and Road Safety.

Abertis -through its Foundation- and UNICEF have signed a four-year renewal of their international collaboration agreement focused on more sustainable mobility for children and youth. This alliance, which was forged in 2017, aims to boost UNICEF's programs in sustainable mobility in Brazil, India and Mexico, and involves a contribution of three million euros.

The Council of Ministers of the Government of Spain, at its meeting on June 22, 2021, approved the renewal of the agreement with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) with the aim that our country will continue to host the UNESCO International Center for Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves, headquarters of the Abertis Foundation, for another six years.
