Abertis, via its subsidiary in Argentina, is bringing Miró to Buenos Aires in an exhibition entitled “Miró: The experience of looking”

  • The works can be seen in the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires.
  • The exhibition, which is presented under the title "Miró: the experience of looking", brings together 50 important works of the last two decades of the work of the Spanish artist.

Abertis, through its companies in Argentina, Autopistas del Sol and Grupo Concesionario del Oeste, brings to Buenos Aires unique works of Joan Miró. The exhibition, which is entitled "Miró: the experience of looking", will be open to the public from October 25th  until February 25th, 2018, and it can be visited at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes of Buenos Aires. Then it will travel to the Museum of Art of Lima, in Peru, in March of 2018.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Pablo Avelluto, Ministry of Culture of Argentina; Juliana Awada, first lady of Argentina; Javier Sandomingo, Spanish ambassador in Argentina; Ramón Puerta, Argentina’s ambassador in Spain; Andrés Barberis, Director of Autopistas Argentinas (Abertis Group); and Sergi Loughney, Director of Institutional Relations and CSR at Abertis; among others.

The exhibition

The exhibition is organized by the Museum Reina Sofia and brings together 50 works of the last two decades of creative work of Joan Miró: 18 paintings, 6 drawings, and 26 sculptures. Two films complement the exhibit: "Miró l'altre" ("Miró the other", 1969), by Pere Portabella; and "Miró Parla" ("Miró talks", 1974).

The exhibition presents a series of works that show how in the last years of his life, the artist confronted his work with the aim of exploring all the capabilities of the visual language that had been built in the years of the Parisian historical avant-garde.

The paintings, drawings and sculptures that make up this exhibition represent significantly this work, as we can see by the extension of the pictorial space in a few canvases with calligraphic signs that achieve greater intensity with minimal resources. One can find also the presence of a figuration of mythic characters, both in 3D from the object language, and in intense and mysterious pictorial representation.
